The BikeGUIDE Level 1 training offers you an easy entry into the diverse professional world of bike guiding. It follows the concept of the Bikeguide Austria association and provides you with up-to-date content. This ensures high-quality training and opens up countless opportunities in the (e-)mountain biking sector.

- Improvement of personal riding technique for accurate self-assessment
- Guiding tours on familiar routes, including emergency management
- Didactic and methodological skills to improve the riding technique of beginners and moderately advanced riders
- Responsibility towards the motivations, needs, and expectations of guests, as well as contributing to regional added value

More information about the structure
Requirements
• Training can begin at the age of 16 (the IV-BG certificate is issued at the age of 18)
• Eight-hour first aid course completed within the past five years
• Riding skills: confident and fluid riding on single trails with a difficulty level of S1 to S2
(e.g. Schwarzleotrail – Leogang, Arzler-Alm Trail – Innsbruck, Schönstatttrail – Wienerwald, Singletrail – Wexl, Enzi-Trail – Graz, Rookie DH – Schladming, Fleckalmtrail – Kirchberg in Tirol, Hochalmtrail – Reiteralm, Z-Line – Saalbach)
• Experience with full-day tours in different regions as well as in bike parks/trail centers with lift access
A tour log must be submitted with the registration, including:
- Five MTB full-day tours with at least 500 meters of elevation gain and 20 km distance
(for e-MTB: at least 1000 meters of elevation gain and 40 km) - Three visits to bike parks/trail centers with a total of at least 1500 meters of descent
What to bring
• A fully functional mountainbike with like-new brake pads, good-condition knobby tires, and a working gear system
• A fully functional e-mountainbike with like-new brake pads, good-condition knobby tires, and working gears
(for one tour and one skills session – can also be rented on-site at one of the local shops)
• Weather-appropriate bike clothing and spare clothes
• A bike backpack for the tours
• Writing materials for taking notes, or a notebook/laptop for digital note-taking
• A smartphone with camera function for documentation and (if available) for digital navigation (bike computer if available)

• May 1–4, 2025 – Stattegg (Part 1)
• May 15–18, 2025 – Stattegg (Part 2)
• August 30 – September 6, 2025 – Schladming
Examination Modules Bikeguide Level 1:
• March 20–23, 2025 – Stattegg / Graz
• October 9–12, 2025 – Schladming
The basic and examination modules take place in the Graz Region and Schladming–Dachstein, with training locations selected based on the course content. This includes the use of the Bikeparks Schöckl, Planai & Reiteralm, as well as the touring networks of the respective regions.
